Perhaps I'm just cranky from midsummer heat and humidity, but lately I've found patron behavior in restaurants to be more reprehensible than ever.

Not everyone's a lout or bore when they're dining out, of course. It does seem, however, that civility in public accommodations is becoming scarcer by the day.

Kids are a blessing, but not when their parents allow them to ruin the dining experience for others.

If youngsters are a bit unruly in a fast food place, it's an annoyance, nothing more. Children behaving badly in a white tablecloth, sit-down restaurant, however are a public menace, as I'm sure most patrons and employees would agree.
